Chinese New Year Assignment

Well.. decided to just update my demonboy character and change the design a bit. Made him more human-like and basically wanted to just quickly rig and start animating. Decided not to waste any time remodeling new characters since i always get stuck in an endless pit after that.

So if i can successfully rig over the weekend, i will have Monday and Tues to animate to my heart’s content. Probably one short body mechanic exercise following pocoyo style and another acting clip following more to stop motion (flushed away) would be interesting i think. Hope things go well.. cheerios!

Below is just a photoshop mockup. Will try to add Blender hair and the tie just for additional overlaps to make it more interesting.

The coming CNY holidays

So just a quick update, apparently my holidays start earlier than expected. The company is giving us Friday off! Yippee!! So from Friday till Tuesday i can be at home working, hopefully.

The plan is to model something quick and simple. Do a rig and animate in the 5 days. If its feasible, then i might just take in requests for freelance animation projects. Simple commercials or videos that require cartoony animation.

I will try to achieve the style of Pocoyo. For those not in the know:

It looks simple, but it’s very tricky to get the right feel for the animation. Gonna study it more in depth. Hopefully can do something nice by the end of the 5 days. Will be coming out with the design of the character by tomorrow. Don’t be surprised if its similiar in proportions to Pocoyo. Although i do have that demon character that i could possibly use to rig and animate. Hmm..

Buying a car.

That’s my plan for 2012.

Why do i need a car though? Well other than the fact that it would be convenient, i just find that i need to be responsible for something. I am going to 30 and i haven’t had  any heavy burdens like owning a house etc. So basically this should be training for me to manage my financials better. Also, convenience!

So i was basically searching through the SgCarmart listings and i realise that i know very little about buying a car. This made me very uneasy. It’s something i cannot do by myself, because i would probably get duped into buying an overpriced ‘lemon’. And also, coe prices in Singapore are ridiculous. It makes owning a car almost impossible on minimum wage.

That aside, i have set my eyes on KIA Picanto, but i realised they don’t sell new Picantos, not even from the main distributor. Strange, i was looking to owning the 2011 version but they only have used Picantos and those are the older models. I am fine with it though. Then i was searching for cheaper cars and i came across the Proton Savvy. It’s way cheaper to own but there seem to be a lot of negative reviews especially when it comes to maintenance and break downs. Of course this would be similar to buying a 10 year old car which will breakdown every month or so.

Good news is, i set myself till April to decide on buying the car. If i do buy it, it would be a birthday present to myself. If i don’t, well, it’s probably a money saving opportunity by itself. But i know i will end up spending the money on electronic gadgets or games instead.

Also i am open for freelancing works to go into my car fund!

2012 – The end is near

Well hopefully not. I am starting to get back into it again and hopefully this time i can finish what i start. I have deleted the games update posts as i do not want this site to be about games. Will hopefully get back into sketching daily and posting up 3D works soon. For real this time! =)

Also it helps that there’s a wordpress app for my WP7 phone which makes it awesome for updating. Now i just need to figure out how to link my facebook and twitter with my blog.

Other than that i don’t think this post requires anything else.. other than the fact that i have met one of my longest resolutions which was to keep fit. Managed to do it towards the end of last year and will continue to keep fit for the years coming. So that’s one overhanging resolution down.

Also, bought this guitar recently: at a place between sembawang and yishun.. chong pang residency area.. quiet a good find for me .. that place has tonnes of cheap guitars (china brand of coz) electric, classical, folk… also comes in a variety of colors and design.

The Obligatory New Year Post

Ah.. how well my blog have been sitting for 3 mths.. and will probably stay quite for a couple more months.. hehe..

Few updates.. i am into gaming.. A LOT.. thus no time to do anything else.. lol.. if not 360 madness then i am having multiplayer madness on the PC with my colleagues.. they introduced me to Steam and i have spent close to $100 USD within 2 months on PC games.. lol.. 

Next year will be another hectic gaming year.. a lot of good games on my list.. and to top it off.. i am getting my PS3.. and buying a 32″ LCD TV for my room.. so yay.. no more playing on my 24″ monitor..

Work wise.. all is going well.. time passes by damn fast.. its been almost a year since i’ve been at TIP.. and hopefully if things go well, will be there for a few more years.. i do still have ambitions to move higher up the ladder and take on more challenging roles.. as lead/supervisor/director… but seeing at my rate of progress is a bit disappointing.. and i need to find time to buck up on my other skills.. been animating too much.. might have lost touch with modeling/texturing etc.. cannot lose the ‘EYE’ lol.. maybe get myself back into Blender.. 2.5 is out and its looking awesome..

Talking about losing skills… i am afraid of losing my guitar ‘skillz’ as well.. haven’t played my guitar in a while and only been touching guitar hero.. lol.. gonna find time somehow and play a bit once in a while..

Resolutions:
Keep FIT (failed to do this for last year’s resolution.. but better luck next time i always say.. lolz)
Get my bike license

Hmm dun think i have any other targets set for 2010..

Ciaoz for now.. and maybe i will update in another 3mths.. maybe i can turn this to a somewhat gaming review site.. but then again.. i am too lazy.. enough said.. ;p

Wassup

So yea.. been neglecting my Blog.. neglecting my personal 3D works as well..

Basically after getting my Xbox360.. My PC soon died afterwards which left me with nothing but the console to keep me occupied.. and Fifa 10 has occupied most of my time as of late as well.. which is cool.. since i am playing online with friends.. which is more enjoyable then playing alone.. which is the reason i got the xbox in the first place.. so i can play with friends..

Niwaes just wanted to post my Fifa 10 Game Face up.. for fun.. heh..

So yea basically been playing Fifa 10 much.. but there’s game that i am looking forward to which i am getting for my PC:

BORDERLANDS

Haven’t been this hyped up about a game since WoW.. hope the game does not disappoint! If its truly the awesome game i imagine it to be, i see myself spending hours on it getting the guns.. leveling to 50 questing with friends in party of 4.. awesome.. just awesome.. >.<

Fifa 10 Game Face

So.. being bored and uninspired.. decided to do this.. also gonna be the owner of an Xbox 360 Elite tomorrow (hopefully) and can’t wait for Fifa 10 release..

 

This was done only with a front picture.. i might do another one with a front and side view for more accurate results.. also i had to tweak quite a bit to get it looking similar.

Hopefully will post more 3D related work stuffs soon. ;p

One of the best sculpting videos i have seen so far. Easy to understand and the workflow makes sense. I am now learning sculpting myself. Will post some updates soon.. for now need to catch up on sleep >.<
