CG Babe Update #05
Working a bit more on this because i will soon have to stop for awhile and finish up my work to meet deadline ;p
Niwaes started blocking out the body proportions..
for body modeling i usually will start with blocking the proportions using 8 sided cylinders.. a technique i saw Ben Mathis (definitely check out his site if you’re into low poly modeling, a lot of tutorials) used and found very useful.. so you can work without a blueprint and still can gauge where the landmarks are for the body when you start detailing..
although the same method can be applied for the head.. i still prefer edge extrusion with a fairly high detail because most of the time you can get a fairly good front and side view reference.. most image references for the body do not or can’t give you a good front and side view reference to work in ortho views.. some will work by trying to match the 3D camera with the image reference camera.. i like to work in ortho views most of the time (especially in Blender since the perspective/camera view is harder to control and gives me very high distortion)
so i just take the reference, block out the landmarks/proportions and just use that cage for detailing.
