Blender 2.49 Stable Release

Yea so i missed the news that the Stable Release was announced on May 30th.. Seriously the community is growing so fast its getting hard to keep up.. :)

Niwaes some very nice improvements to it.. like Projection Painting and Texture Nodes..

I am not too familiar with their node system yet.. but hopefully its as good as XSI’s node based texturing.. the last time i tested with Blender i had problems switching between their texture channels and their node system.. its like the 2 systems doesn’t communicate with each other.. hopefully they changed that.. or maybe i just need to learn how to use it properly.. lol..

And yea did i mention Projection Painting?!

One of the best features yet! Very useful for slapping on quick textures with crappy UV unwrapping..  making it easier to touch up the textures in photoshop etc.. especially when texturing head.. dealing with seams etc..

I am not going to use it yet however.. still working with 2.48a.. they said that they will release 2.49a with Bug fixes so i will just wait for that instead.

On a sidenote, i am probably going to do a ‘Getting started with Blender’ Page.. coz after recommending people to use Blender the next question they ask is where to get the tutorials to learn Blender.. so i will probably do up a page compiling the best tutorials to cover all the different aspects of Blender.. we’ll see how that goes.. :P
